Julia Richardson is a freelance wildlife photographer based in the UK.

Five years ago, Julia left the bright city lights of Hong Kong for the UK’s quietest county, Northumberland. Here she lives and works with her partner on his stock and arable farm. This has lead to various opportunities such as photographing the local hunts and more recently, being on the photographic teams that cover the local county shows.

In 2016 Julia joined the local camera club with the intention of developing her knowledge and practical photography. In October 2017, Julia completed and achieved the Licentiate Distinction for the Royal Photographic Society (LRPS). Julia has also gained recognition and representation in both the Northern Counties Photographic Federation and the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain and has achieved a highly commended in the National Royal Photographic Society Annual Natural History Exhibition in 2018.

She is now planning and working towards her Associate Distinction of the Royal Photographic Society (ARPS) specialising in Natural History. Julia’s love of animals, the outdoors and photography, has led her on various trips to the Scottish Highlands where she looks to shoot mountain hares, red squirrels, deer, ptarmigan and coastal birds. She also shoots local wildlife whenever she is able to spend time off the farm.

Alongside wildlife photography, Julia also works in branding and shoots countryside events, county shows, and product launches.
